We presently have quite a few alternative political parties in America. Why have they not taken off and flourished when there is such a need for political alternatives in America? I'd like to list a few of the parties here and discuss what we can do as voters and citizens to support the party that represents us, and look for alternatives to our present two dominate parties.
Major Parties
Democratic Party
Republican Party
Minor Parties
Constitution Party
Green Party
Libertarian Party
You can find the list of our Political Parties at Wikipedia "Political Parties". You will notice that there are a large number of third parties. Why then do we still cling to our present two party system?
If you look through the majority of these parties what you find are a "extreme" views that has caused them to be created. Obviously that is my opinion and I'm open to debate that. As you review these micro parties as they are called you will notice that one stands out to me. The "Modern Whig Party" which was created in 2008 by war veterans that experienced the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. They appear to represent a Moderate third party, their platform is:
- Fiscal responsibility
- Energy Independence
- Education / Scientific advancement
- States Rights
- Social progression
- Veteran Affairs
As a open minded citizen I will be reviewing this parties platform and others closer to see if this party is a Moderate third party that I have been looking for. They presently have close to 30,000 members from 27 states.
With our present swings in national programs based on our two party system, it behooves us to look for a alternative voice to deal with our complicated problems. If you are one of the millions of Americans that call themselves Moderate, please be open to voting for alternative candidates. Also, let us stop being concerned with "what if" that candidate wins because I voted for third party. We need to boldly express who represents us just as our founding citizens did in the creation of this country.
